Obituary of Dennis Sean Dobson
Dennis Sean Dobson, age 72, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Dennis was born on January 11, 1952 in New York Hospital, in New York City. He was the youngest of seven children born to James Joseph Dobson and Rita Walsh Dobson. He grew up on 91st Street in Jackson Heights, N.Y., where he made lifelong friends, playing stick ball in the alleys and basketball in the Park at PS149. As a young man, he attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Jackson Heights, N.Y. and Archbishop Molloy High School in Jamaica, N.Y. He played point guard for the Malloy Basketball team. He furthered his education at Baruch College in New York City, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism. After that, he attended The New School in New York City where he received his Master's degree in Communications and Media Studies. Dennis was a talented writer and was published in various academic journals. He worked for many years in Public Relations for large firms such as Edelman, but he was an entrepreneur at heart. He founded and launched, Dennis S. Dobson, Inc. in 1995, a small, boutique Public Relations firm, in which he served as founder and CEO until 2020. His firm specialized in media placement in major business press and branding. Dennis was also a member of the Screen Actor's Guild for 50 years. He was an extra in ABC's Knots Landing for many years. He played the part of a police officer in the movie, Fort Apache the Bronx, with Danny Aiello and Paul Newman. He had a small part in the movie Nighthawks with Sylvester Stallone. He didn't make a career out of acting, but he surely entertained his family and friends with his theatrics and his hysterical sense of humor. Dennis was a survivor of the 9/11 Attack.
Dennis married his High School Sweetheart, Patty, on August 24, 1974. They began dating at the age of fifteen, and built a beautiful life, which started in Forrest Hills, N.Y., where their daughter Keara and their son Dennis were born. In 1984, they moved to Fairfield, CT, where they finished off their family with the birth of their third child, Meghan. Dennis and Patty happily resided at their home in Fairfield where they enjoyed summers with their grandchildren in their pool and peaceful late afternoons on their porch.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Patricia, his daughter Keara, her husband Devon and their four children, Owen, Leighton, Ryder and Nolan; his son Dennis, his wife Mary and their 2 children Campbell and Brooks; and his daughter Meghan, her husband Joe and their 3 children Fiona, Landon and Delia. Dennis loved his family beyond measure and provided for all. He was someone everyone could lean on for advice, encouragement or for a good laugh. He was a masterful storyteller, he loved to sit at the beach with his wife and a cup of coffee. He was a driver to sports practices, a babysitter, a playmate, a coach and a friend to his entire family. He is also survived by his sister Jane, his brother Brian and his sister Mary. He is predeceased by his brothers James, Ronald and Kevin and his parents James and Rita Dobson.
Dennis was a special man. He provided and guided his family and his friends. He will be cherished and remembered for his kind heart, his hilarious sense of humor, his love of music, and his unending love and devotion to his entire family.
