Obituary of John Paul Rabacs

John Paul Rabacs passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital after a courageous yearlong battle with metastatic colon cancer.

John was born on February 29,1964 in Laurel, Maryland at Kimbrough Army Hospital. His formative years were in both Louisiana and Long Island before moving to Fairfield. He was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School, attended Louisiana State University and had a business career in both Connecticut and Atlanta, GA where he spent the last twenty years as an avid fan of the Braves and Falcons.

A caring and loving person of faith, John was a dedicated volunteer in his church and community. He was a little league coach, SIBS counselor and mentor for Big Brothers in Norwalk where he had a lifelong impact in the life of Dayquinn and others.

John is survived by his parents, John and Virginia (Franzese); his brother, Scott (Colette); and his sister, Laura Shevlin (Michael). John was so proud to be an uncle to Shane, Kevin, Brian, Luke, Will, and Connor Rabacs, Grace, Charlotte, and Caroline Shevlin.  He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. John was predeceased by his grandparents, Philip and Martha Franzese, Karlis and Elza Rabacs, and several aunts and uncles.

Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. in the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Luke Church, 49 N. Turkey Hill Road, Westport, CT 06880. All other services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
