Helen K. Maniscalco, a lifelong resident of Fairfield, passed away on April 28, 2024, just one week shy of her 101st birthday.
Born in Bridgeport, she graduated from Roger Ludlow High School in 1941. Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother across three generations. Her unwavering dedication centered around her family.
Active in her community, Helen was a member of the consistory at the United Church of Christ in Bridgeport. She also participated in the Bessemer Seniors, Easton Seniors, and the Fairfield Woman’s Club. During World War II, she volunteered as a nurse’s aide at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center. Later, she contributed her time to the gift shop there.
Helen had a zest for life. She loved to travel, enjoyed bowling, and found excitement in casino visits. Her culinary skills were evident in her love for cooking, and she also found solace in knitting and puzzling. Above all, her heart belonged to her family and her church. Helen’s legacy will continue to shine through the lives she touched and the memories she created with her loved ones. May she rest in peace.
She was predeceased by her parents, Maria Vajanyi Kozma and Louis Kozma, as well as her husband of 73 years, Salvatore A. Maniscalco.
She is survived by her children, Raymond/Paula (DE), Thomas/Lyn (CT), Robert/Tanis (CA) and Vincent/Karen (CT) And her cousin Kathy Bryk.

Calling Hours will occur on Saturday, May 4th, 2024, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Lesko Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Services will continue at the United Church of Christ in Bridgeport at 11 a.m. Helen will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum in Mountain Grove Cemetery directly after the service at 12:15 pm.
