Obituary of Elizabeth Mary Conway
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elizabeth "Betty" (Mundt) Conway, 76, of Bridgeport, CT, beloved wife of the late Paul Conway, entered into eternal rest on October 16, 2023. She was born on January 25, 1947 in New York, NY, the daughter of the late Frederick Mundt and Rita Stokes. Betty was proudly raised in the Bronx where she lived until moving to Black Rock with her family in 1975.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Kevin Conway and wife Carrie Olson-Conway of Warwick, RI, and Christopher Conway, wife Colleen Berry Conway, and grandson Desmond Conway of Southington, CT.
Graduating from Immaculate Conception Branch Cathedral High School in New York, NY in 1965, Betty had a secretarial career with Grolier Publishing and the insurance industry in Manhattan; the Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic Center (Marriage Tribunal & Bishop's Office); St. Philip Church in Norwalk, CT; and St. Luke Church in Westport, CT.
As a member of her community, Betty was a parishioner of St. Ann Parish in Black Rock for nearly 50 years. Always embracing her Irish heritage, she belonged to the Gaelic-American Club for over 35 years where she could often be found enjoying a meal with friends and family in the pub.
Betty enjoyed traveling and took many trips to Las Vegas, NV with her son Kevin and daughter-in-law Carrie. She also visited Ireland often with her late husband Paul where she spent quality time with their relatives, the Hickey Family, of Killybegs, Donegal. Locally, there were many day trips to the casino (Mohegan Sun was her favorite), bingo and other activities at the Black Rock Senior Center, and countless meals and holiday gatherings with family and friends. Since 2009, one of Betty's most joyous activities was spending time with her grandson Desmond.

Betty was grateful for her 30-year survivorship of breast cancer. Over the years, both of her sons have raised money for the American Cancer Society in her honor. Chris has participated in their Men Wear Pink campaign for many years. Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Chris' campaign in Betty's memory. Donate online at https://rb.gy/4lf11 or mail a check to:
