Harold R. Candee “Scotty", age 93 passed away with his loving family by his side on September 21, 2023. He was born to his parents Fred B. Candee, Sr. and Elizabeth (Beach) Candee in their family home and was a life long resident of Easton. He enjoyed his winter home in Florida.
After attending Bassick High School he entered the Army during the Korean War. Upon leaving the Army he studied at the University of Bridgeport. He began his construction career with Frouge Construction and Silliman Company in Bridgeport before founding the H.R. Candee Construction Company.
Scotty was an avid New York Yankees, New York Giants and UCONN girls basketball fan. He was an ardent fan of Joel Barlow and Fairfield Prep athletics. He was an accomplished baseball player in his youth and enjoyed playing golf later on in life and was a member of the Brownson County Club. He was a voracious reader of biographies and U.S. and sports history
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Jesters and a life long member and past president of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department.
Scotty will be remembered by all who knew him for his smile, the twinkle in his blue eyes, his hard work ethic, and integrity. His favorite place to be was his home with his wife, his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Manere) Candee, three devoted children Bonnie Candee, Pat Capalbo (Joe) and Scott Candee (Karen). His grandchildren Michael, Joseph (Jaime), Cali (Karl), Tommy, Scottie and Rebecca and great grandchildren Gemma, Chase and Jake. He is also survived by his twin brother Fred B. Candee, Jr. of Easton. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Raymond (Peggy), sister Bernice (Wayman) and his granddaughter, Monica.
Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours at Lesko & Polke Funeral home located at 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center during the hours of 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday September 27, 2023. Funeral Services will take place at Jesse Lee Church, 25 Flat Rock Road, Easton, Connecticut at 11:00 a.m. on September 28, 2023. His burial will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Easton with Military honor.
