Obituary of Constance Lengel
Constance R. Lengel, age 85, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2023, with her husband at her side. Connie was born on February 23, 1938, in Barnstable, MA. She attended high school in Barnstable and college at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT, where she met her husband, Michael Lengel. They have been married for over 63 years. She was a wonderful mother to her son, Michael, and daughter Allison.
Connie also loved and supported her three grandchildren, Alexandra, Nicole, and Andrew.
Connie had many interests. She was most passionate about bridge. She was an excellent player and loved the game. Connie loved to cook. She was a gourmet cook who participated in dozens of gourmet dinners with friends over the years. She also loved to spend time at their home on Martha's Vineyard and travel to exciting places whenever possible.
Connie and her husband have lived in Trumbull for over 59 years. They spent many of those years as members of the Pinewood Lake Association, where they made dozens of lifelong friends. Connie spent over 25 of those years working as a real estate agent. It was a rewarding career for her.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Lengel; her daughter, Allison; her three grandchildren; her three stepsisters, Gail, Rita, and Betty; and their children; her cousins, Diane Nickerson and Gary Drinkwater; and their children.
She was predeceased by her son, Michael Lengel; her mother, Harriet Emrich; her father, Almond Ryder; her brother Bruce Ryder and his family; her aunt, Evelyn Drinkwater; and uncle, George Drinkwater; sister-in-law, Betty Schlachte.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
