Obituary of John A. Shingola

John Andrew Shingola, age 94, of Stratford, died April 16, 2023 at his home.

Born in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late John and Helen Horvath Shingola. He worked 40 years at Contract Plating in Stratford, taking great pride in his output with impeccable attention to detail. He loved to travel and had many wonderful trips with his companion, Kathy. No more avid Red Sox and UConn basketball (especially "the girls") fan could be found.

John's Hungarian heritage was also a source of immense pride to him. Everyone can attest to his spotless house and car and his penchant for gardening. The neighbors enjoy his plantings to this day. Most of all, he loved his family and would do anything to help them.

Survivors include his son, John Shingola, and his wife, Alice, of Beacon Falls; and granddaughters, Tara Shingola and Lana Shingola. Also left to cherish his memory are several cousins; Julie Horvath, RSM; and special friend, Kathy Bray. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his brother, Leroy Shingola.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. (Enter the main cemetery gate and follow the Lesko & Polke signs to the service location.)
