Obituary of Thomas Conelius

Thomas Earl Conelius, age 76 of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Linda Sopek Conelius, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Born and raised in Baltimore Maryland, son of the late Lawrence and Helen Richardson Conelius, Thomas was a Bridgeport resident for many years. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He then went on to work for Sikorsky Aircraft as a Senior Instructor, traveling the US and various places around the world working with many Military divisions both foreign and domestic. Later he continued his career as a Maintenance Instructor for Hawk Enterprises, Huntsville, Alabama until his retirement.

Tom was a world traveler, he enjoyed learning local cultures, eating their cuisine and befriending his students (some of whom treated him as part of their families.) He also watched and coached all his children's sporting events and later in life, he enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's activities.

In addition to Linda, his loving wife of 53 years, survivors include his children, Jeff Conelius, and his, wife Allison, Bryan Conelius, and his wife, Jaclyn, Rebecca Sopek, and David Fassel; his precious grandchildren, Matthew, Benjamin and Sarah Conelius; a sister, Sharon Durham, and her husband, Vernon; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Lawrence Conelius.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center with burial to follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield with full Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation.
