I am so sad to have read of the passing of Marie. Every time I pass her home I think of her. I have known Marie and Bob for over 60 years and especially Marie through our Red Cross connections.

Earl met Marie one evening when he helped her with her car. We r neighbors. After that we became fast friends-- Marie was wonderful for making friends.
Marie was Earl's first stop after salmon fishing. He gave Marie salmon, and Marie would give Earl fresh jarred pickles.
Then Liz and Diane did yard work for Marie. They had trouble with a step, then a tree and assured Marie they had a friend that could take care of it. How funny-- the friend turned out to be Earl. We laughed about that a long time.
Marie was kind and too generous with everything. She was smart and funny. A joy of a person. What a lovely lady.

I met Marie through my wife Darlene. She was a wonderful person and always enjoyable to talk too or to be with. Marie loved to tell the story of a dinner cruise she took with Katy in New York harbor. I think that memory helped sustain Marie as she dealt with the travails of aging. If you believe in the Good Lord and believe that He will reunite families in heaven, Marie is now with her daughter Katy. What more could any mom want. Love, Ken

What can I say about Marie?? Marie loved everybody, except my mom.!!
I guess she felt no one was good enough for her baby brother "Bud".
When I visited she would say " I hate that women." I would say "you know
that she is my mom." "Oh I forgot".with a big smile. We would always laugh about
it because deep down she knew they belonged together and they were until Bud's passing in April of 2018. I will really miss Marie.
your loving niece

Oh how I will miss this amazingly, funny woman. Truly, one in a zillion! We were so lucky for sharing many happy memories graced with so much laughter. I always knew who my Dad, Bob, was talking to on the phone because I could hear roaring laughter coming out of him! Thanks for the fond memories, Auntie Ree. You had a tremendous life and wore your red lipstick well! xoxoxo :)

Marie will be missed. She was always professional while we worked together from 1975 until her retirement in the late 1980's. I enjoyed all her stories about the old Monroe, her friendship with my parents, breeding of Dalmatian dogs, the radio interviews Bob did about dog care, their involvement with Monroe's VFW Post, and the list is endless as was her humor.

Marie, a one in a million woman, and a friend that truly blessed my life. I cleaned her windows for her once a year for the past 12 years. It was a cherished time for me to just clean her windows and talk and listen to the vast ocean of wisdom that just poured effortlessly from her brilliant smile. She would find ways to keep me there as long as she could by making me sandwiches while I worked and by just showing a genuine interest in my well being. My dad and I paved her driveway 50 years after my grandfather did, which was the first time I met her. Honestly, her spirit was so strong we would joke that she would be around until at least she was 110. Marie painted a picture of life and the history of the town I grew up in, Monroe, that I would never have known if it were not for her. Maries special kind of wit and love for people, and their fair treatment defined her life’s work. My condolences to her family, for they are also very special people. Thank you Marie, your friend, Ricky

Marie did many kindnesses for people in Monroe, many known and some unknown.
She adored her family, loved people in general and was lots of fun.
I feel privileged to have known her.

Marie was one of the most pleasant people I’ve ever known. She was a treasured friend who served the Red Cross with dedication and class. She continued to serve many people of Monroe, even after she retired from the town position. She cared about people and their welfare. She loved Bob and Kate with all of her heart and missed them like crazy but never wanted to burden other people with her pain. I will Remember her stories and recipes that she shared . She was a true Lady. May God Bless all of her family .
