Obituary of Joseph Couture
Joseph Clarence Couture, age 90, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, husband of the late Eva Pulley Couture, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018 with his loving family by his side.
Born in Bridgeport on May 22, 1928 son of the late Edmond and Marie Robichaud Couture, Joseph was a lifelong Bridgeport resident. He had worked as a HVAC Technician for Fairfield University for many years until his retirement. Mr. Couture was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Merchant Marines and later for the U.S. Army. Joe could always be found working on various projects around the household and was a world class checker player. He enjoyed his afternoon car rides to St. Mary's by the Sea and the occasional trip to the casino.
Survivors include his daughters, Evette Zawadski and her husband Robert and Michele Cihal, all of Stratford, grandchildren Kevin Cihal and his wife Molly Canas Cihal of Fort Worth, TX, Eric Cihal of Florida, Kayla Cihal of Boston, MA, Lauren Zawadski of Derby and Robert Zawadski of Milford. He leaves behind his sisters Ruth Spigarolo of Bridgeport and Annette Cullen of Stratford and a brother Donald Couture of Madison as well as several nieces and nephews, including his special nephew Joseph Capuano. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Ann Couture.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 am directly at St. Ann Church, Brewster St., Bridgeport with burial to follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center.
