Obituary of Phyllis A. Mikos

Phyllis A. Mikos, age 83, of Fairfield, beloved wife of the late Stanley W. Mikos, Sr., passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones after battling a short illness.
She was fiercely loyal to her family and friends and will be missed every single day by those that truly knew and loved her, including her children, John Mikos, and his family, of Stratford, Bernice Dohn, of Milford, Teresa French, and her husband, Gregg, of Fairfield, and Stanley W. Mikos, Jr., and his wife, Megan, of Fairfield; grandchildren, Roy DeGiovanni, and his wife, Jennifer, Matthew DeGiovanni, and his fiancée, Sarah Rickard, Stephanie and Gregg French, and James Mikos; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and RJ DeGiovanni and soon to be arriving, Lola DeGiovanni and Caydin Greenaway. In addition to her loving husband, Stanley, Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Bernice Miariecka Borek and son-in-law, Roy DeGiovanni, Sr.
Phyllis was born in Meriden on May 3, 19 35 and was a graduate of O.H. Platt High School. Shortly after high school, Phyllis met the love of her life at a wedding. Phyllis and Stanley married in Catonsville, Maryland and shared 49 years together before Stanley passed away unexpectedly. Upon marriage, Phyllis moved to Fairfield with her husband and remained a lifetime resident. While Phyllis devoted her life to her husband, children, and thereafter her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she also assisted other families as a caregiver and was known as "Grandma" to everyone who met her.
She was known for her chocolate chip cookies and coleslaw and was loved as she loved. A woman of faith, Phyllis was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, where she and Stanley attended Mass regularly and was an active member at the Septemberfest Bingo Hall.
Phyllis loved to sing and was a regular member at of Assumption's Resurrection Choir. She enjoyed relaxing with her son Stanley, his wife, Megan, and grandson, James, on their boat watching the fireworks. Phyllis took great pleasure in attending her grandchildren, Stephanie and Gregg's sporting events and grandsons', Roy, Matthew, and James' hockey games. She was the driver to Diane McLoughlin and Claire Probst and was a lifetime member of East End Yacht Club Auxiliary and a former member of Holy Family Ladies Guild.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. directly at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield, with burial to follow at Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
