Obituary of Doris Irene Hurd

Doris Irene Verdon Hurd, age 95, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Carl M. Hurd, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. Doris was born on August 22, 1927 in Montreal, Canada to the late Wanless and Doris Green Verdon, and moved to Bridgeport in1966. Thirty years later, in 1996, Doris became a proud US Citizen. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Gardner Merchant Food Services until her retirement in 1992 and moved to Milford that same year. Doris was a proud and active member of Olivet Congregational Church in Bridgeport. In her spare time, Doris loved to crochet, but what she took the most pleasure in was spending time with her grandchildren. Doris' memory will be lovingly remembered by her children, Wendy Griffin, and her husband, Ron, Cindy Majsa, and her husband, Ron, Bill Bridges, and his wife, Sarah, of Ohio, and step-son, Carl W. Hurd, and his wife, Nancy, of Florida; her adored grandchildren, David Griffin, Kevin Griffin, Steven Griffin, Matthew Majsa, and his partner, Tia, Mallory Simms, and her husband, Jay, Kelly Cannizzio, and her husband, Bo, Brian Walsh, Patrick Walsh, Greg Walsh, Ellie Schmidt, and Sabrina Bridges; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her loving husband, Carl, Doris was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila Bridges Walsh. A private committal will be held at Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
