Obituary of Kathryn Hayes Feakins

Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kathy Feakins of Old Lyme, Connecticut passed away on September 2nd after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Kathy was born on August 17, 1946 in New York City to Paul and Jane Feakins. She grew up in New Vernon, New Jersey and after graduating from Oak Knoll School, Kathy went on to receive a B.A. in psychology from Marymount College.

Kathy spent her formative career years at Ogilvy & Mather where she rose to Senior Vice President and director of planning, and was a member on the Ogilvy New York Operating Board. She later became Planning Director and VP of Cabot Advertising, became a Senior Partner at Lippincott and Mercer and co-founded BrandResource.  Kathy was an active member of the marketing and advertising community, chaired the Effie Awards and held a number of positions on the Board of Directors of American Marketing Association of NY.

In addition to her career achievements, Kathy will be remembered most for her spirit, her fierce loyalty to her friends and family, her ability to laugh regardless of circumstance, her absolute love of tennis, her frequent use of and love for the word "fabulous", her need to read any and all mysteries, her adoration of George Harrison and the Beatles, her passion for travel and all things Italian, her love for her many nieces and nephews and her desire to always offer her friends her "unsolicited and almost qualified opinion."

She is predeceased by her husband Carl Carbone, and her parents Jane and Paul Feakins. She is survived by her step- daughter Carla Carbone-Pero, her sisters, Sara, and Mary and her brothers Paul, Peter and Rob.

A public grave site service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 21st, at the Duck River Cemetery, followed by a private luncheon for family and friends.
