Obituary of Betty Ann Johnson

Betty Ann Zavodny Johnson, age 83, of Monroe, entered into eternal life on October 19, 2018.

Born in Bridgeport, Betty Ann was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Ficzere Zavodny. She was a 1953 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School prior to attending Albertus Magnus College. Betty Ann was a bookkeeper for the Old Blue Bird Garage and was a special education aide for Fairfield Public Schools. She was an avid fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball team that she loved to cheer on.

Betty Ann’s memory will lovingly be remembered by her children, Monica Johnson, of Ridgefield, Mary Beth McGrath, and her husband, Tom, of Evergreen, CO; Christopher Johnson, and his wife, Karen, of Monroe; and Jennifer Johnson Zavalishin, and her husband, Nicholas, of Milford; grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew Johnson of Monroe, and Sydney Fain, of Boston, MA and Michael Fain, of Milford; her brother, Dr. Paul J. Zavodny and his wife, Susan, of Mountainside, NJ; a nephew, Joseph (JP) Zavodny, of Maryland; and a niece, Stefanie Zavodny Jackson, and her husband, Josh, of Pennsylvania. In addition to her parents, Betty Ann was predeceased by her infant sister, Carol Zavodny.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Directly at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
