Obituary of Marius Velicu

Marius Velicu, age 86, of Fairfield, loving husband of Kia Velicu, for 55 years, passed away at home on Thursday, January 27, 2022, surrounded by his family.

The loving father of Alina Munteanu, her husband, Dan, and Cristina Haithwaite, her husband, George; and his five treasured grandchildren, Daniel, Gabriela, Nicholas, Emily, and George. Survived by his brother, Marcel, and his wife, Nina Velicu; and nieces, Janina and Anca. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law and their families.

Marius was an avid gardener who loved to travel and to spend quality time with his grandchildren! He had an amazing positive outlook on life that was infectious! Words cannot describe how much he will be missed but the memories will live in our hearts forever.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church on 554 Tunxis Hill Road Fairfield with burial to follow at Lawncroft Cemetery. Friends may call at Church on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Holy Brancoveanu Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church.
