My condolences to all in Gerry's family and circle of friends. I never had the privilege of meeting this remarkable man in person but he impacted me in ways I will remember always. He sent genuine words of encouragement to my colleagues and me when we were working hard to recall our Wisconsin governor who was doing all he could do to overturn our amazing public school system. Gerry gave us hope and a financial contribution which inspired us to fight the good fight. We were overwhelmed by such an outreach from out of state and were energized by his touching words. Gerry walked the talk and I was happy to be a facebook friend and learn much about life from watching him live his.
My sincere sympathies to all,
Barb

Jerry Kuroghlian: TEACHER! One, of course, thinks of teacher as being in a classroom of students. That, certainly, was the Jerry most known to all. His sparkling understanding of English language, the panoply of literature in its many genres was imparted to his Staples students, offering them a wonderful understanding which will last their lifetimes. Yet, Jerry was a TEACHER in so many other ways. His earnest involvement in the Westport Education Association gave him the opportunity to make sure at all teachers had the best career experiences. He was a TEACHER to the parents of students, providing praise and encouragement so their children would thrive in the classroom. Finally, Jerry was a TEACHER by example in his various volunteer endeavors. For all these life experiences, Jerry will be remembers as a TEACHER with out equal.

The extended Paul Green family (Ellen's cousins from Elgin, IL) send their love and condolences. We will remember Jerry's encouragement of his many nieces and nephews as they headed off to college. His advice was always honest, positive, uplifting, sound and full of love and good humor. We will remember many delightful 4th of July parties at their summer home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Jerry was a wonderful uncle, brother, and friend to the entire Green family. -- Paul Green, Jr.

He was “Mr. K” when he was my Shakespeare teacher at Staples. He inspired in me a live of literature, teaching, and learning. He was one of two teachers I went back to visit after graduation. I am proud to have followed in his footsteps as an educator (37 years now). He was an incredible human I’ll miss you.

Dr. K was not just my favourite teacher at Staples, feeding my love of reading, but an inspiration to me as I started my career as a social studies teacher. I was lucky enough to start my journey at Staples and to have Dr. K's mentorship as I transitioned from corporate life to teaching. His unwavering support meant the world to me. Anytime I needed advice, or just some finger snaps, he was there. I will miss my teacher and friend.

In Memoriam: "Gerry the K."
If we are lucky, we have a few teachers in our youth that do more than educate: they inspire. For me, Dr. Kuroghlian was one such. His lessons have lived on (for myself and thousands of other students) and made me a better student, a better lawyer, and a better human being.
To argue with the Immortal Bard (something Dr. K would have respected), his life was NOT a "tale told by an idiot," and it signified much.
Requiescat in pace. The lessons you have taught will live after you - the pain will be interred with your bones.
Everett Sussman (Staples class of 1983)
