We lived next door to Laura, Bill and their two little boys at Dogwood Green in Fairfield. My daughter often babysat for them and we enjoyed happy times as neighbors. We last saw them at their Weston home. I remember Bill as a very fine man, dedicated to his family and a highly regarded attorney. Blessings to Laura and the sons.

Bill and Laura were our neighbors in Mooresville. Bill was my fishing buddy and we spent hours not catching fish but having a great time. He would take me golfing and never say a word about how bad I was. We knew right away that we had great people to be our neighbors and stay friends forever. We feel very lucky to have seen Bill and Laura at Marco Island last May 2017. We will sorely miss Bill. He will be in our hearts forever. Gary and Tedi Maves

My condolences to the Cotter family for Billy's passing. I worked with Billy for Judge Burton Jacobson back in the early 80's, and snuck off to go waterskiing on Friday's with him. His brother, Gerry, and I were classmates at FCDS. I'm saddened to hear of Billy's passing and my prayers are with you.

Right now, when your loss is so fresh, it may be difficult for you to imagine that this pain will ever go away. But in time the blessing of God's unfailing love will soften the hurt you're feeling and bring your heart the peace, comfort and hope that it needs to heal. How? Revelation 21:4 tells us that soon everything that causes us pain, including death, will be gone forever. We also have the hope of our loved ones being resurrected here on earth, as Acts 24:15 tells us. I do hope you find comfort in this.
Though I do not know your loved one, I am touched by your loss. My heartfelt condolences.

Our heartfelt and deepest condolences to Laura, William, Daniel and all the Cotter family. Billy was very special to us. I have so many wonderful memories of the years we all worked together at Cotter, Cotter & Sohon. The last time I was able to chat with Bill was in March thanks to Tom. Billy was smiling and being positive despite his illness. Broke our hearts to hear that he passed, but I know that God will grant all of you the strength and patience to deal with this loss. May the wonderful memories you have of Billy always keep him alive in your hearts. He will always hold a special place in ours. Olga and Mohamed Shibtini

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Bill, as a good friend of his wife Laura, I heard so many wonderful things about him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing, but as Bill and Laura both had great faith in the Lord, I am certain that Bill is at peace in heaven and out of pain. May he rest in peace. Prayers and good thoughts being sent to the family.

Billy was always a joy to deal with as an opposing advocate. Smart and well prepared, was always likable, fun and honest. I have missed him since he left Connecticut. He was a ray of sunlight to the practice of law. He will not be forgotten. May God bless him and his extended family for this enormous loss.

I’m so sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He was a great lawyer and helped us tremendously at our firm in Mooresville after he had “retired.” But, more than that, he was a good friend and a good man, with a big heart for others and a deep love for his family. Hardly a conversation occurred with him that didn’t mention Laura, Will and Dan in some way. My prayer is that God will hold all of you in the palm of His almighty hand in your time of loss, and that as you lean into the love of family and friends in this difficult time, you will feel His presence and find comfort in your grief. Bill, thanks for the golf, the friendship and the good times, buddy, and get us a tee time for when I see you again! —Mark
