Obituary of Mary Galich

Mary Duh Galich, age 90, of Shelton, wife of the late George Galich, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2018. Born in Bridgeport, October 19, 1927, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Gerics Duh. Mary lived in Bridgeport for most of her life, working at Bryant Electric and Bridgeport Tool and Die. A devout Catholic, Mary was a longtime parishioner of Holy Cross Church in Fairfield, where she belonged to the Ladies Guild and always volunteered for many Church picnics and helped with fundraising for the Troubadours Drum and Bugle Corps. She loved to attend Drum Corps shows to support her kids and also the Park City Pride. Her great joy was cooking and baking every Sunday and all the holidays. She enjoyed crocheting and crafted so many beautiful afghans for all of the family and many extended family. Mary's greatest joy was her family, she loved and supported all of them, no matter what. She always enjoyed babysitting for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout the many years. She is survived by her children, Helen Baldelli ( Al ), George Galich ( Patricia ), Joseph Galich ( Susan ), Mary Ann Galich and Cecelia Galich. She leaves behind her grandchildren Stephanie Baldelli, Alfred Baldelli Jr., Cathy Villanueva ( Eddie ), Michelle Galich ( Laura ), Joseph Galich ( Sylvia ), Todd Galich ( Stacy ), Melissa Galich, Erin Galich, Danielle Galich, George Galich Jr. ( Jessica ), Michael Galich ( Liz ), and Alyssa Galich, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Grace Ivan Pal ( Frank ), Ann Polak ( Louis ), Julia Rednak ( Louis ) and Barbara Yaworowski, sisters in law Ann Duh and Fran Duh as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Louis Duh, a sister Cecelia Gleza and a brother in law Joseph Yaworowski. The Galich family would like to express their thanks to Vitas Healthcare, especially Blanca, Jeannie, Tara Larunyna and Mary Lee and American Senior Homecare, especially Natalia and Mary for the care that they provided Mary during her illness.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15th at 10:30 am directly at Holy Cross Church, 750 Tahmore Dr., Fairfield with burial to follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 14th from 4-8 pm at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Healthcare and St. Jude.
