Obituary of Florence Marsala

Florence Janelu Marsala, age 93, of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Born in Blackstone, MA, daughter of the late Vanghele and Vanthia Nastu Janelu, Florence was a Bridgeport resident for most of her life. She had worked for the General Electric Co. for many years until her retirement. She was a lifelong and devoted member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, sang in the Church choir, was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, a longtime member and secretary for the St. Dimitrie Parish Council a member of the Church Retirees group and volunteered for all church functions. More than anything Florence cherished the times that she spent with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Florence is survived by her son, Paul J. ( Joey ) Marsala and his wife Gina of Milford daughters, Kathy Jones, her loving caregiver and her husband Greg of Coconut Creek, Florida and Mary Beth Tobin of Trumbull, grandchildren Lisa Robante, Amber Marsala and John R. Tobin II and his wife Giovanna and great grandsons Raymond and Alexander Robante. She was predeceased by her beloved grandson Brian P. Tobin, a sister Sophie Moran and brothers Andrew and Christy Janelu. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 pm directly at St. Dimitrie Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Rd., Easton with burial to follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery of Easton. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4 to 8 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center. The Trisagion Service will be at 6 pm.
