Ioan Sideri of Bridgeport, CT died Friday of natural causes at St. Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport. He was a Macedo-Romanian born in Bucharest, Romania of Niculae, his father (from Turia, Greece) and his mother, Victoria (neé Fundi) from Ainciu, Greece. One of three children, he was predeceased by his parents, his brother Gheorghe and a sister, Calipso, as well as his his son, Niculae, who died at 39 years of age. He attended primary school and the Gheorghe Lazar high school in Bucharest. He and his brother were persecuted by the communist regime while attending Polytechnical College in Romania. He left Romania in 1989 for the United States with his wife, Eftimia (neé Bargiuma) to reunite with the family and settled in Bridgeport and worked at the DSC Company assembling electrical technology where he was much appreciated for developing many innovative projects, retiring from there at the age of 65. He was a very active member of the St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church in Bridgeport, then Easton, CT for many years, where he was a member of the Parish Council and served as an Epitrop. He volunteered his talents and time to help that church for many years. In 2016, he helped establish a new Romanian Mission, Holy Brancoveni Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Church, now holding services in Fairfield, CT Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 pm in the Holy Brancoveni Martyrs Romanian Orthodox Chruch, Tunxis Hill Rd., Fairfield with the Trisagion Service 6 pm.The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 12 pm with Fr. Marius Lazar and Fr. Cornel Todeasa officiating. Burial will at Lakeview Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.
