Obituary of Mary Butler
Mary Berkery Butler, age 96, of Fairfield, devoted wife of the late Edward Donald Butler, passed away peacefully in her home on March 26, 2018.
Her memory will be embraced by her children, Gerard Butler and his wife Mary Jane, of Garrison, NY, Claire Yearwood and her husband Ralph, of Westport, her Daughter-In-Law MaryAnn Butler of Whitehouse Station, NJ, and her Son-In-Law John Sibley and his wife Susan of Fairfield; eleven cherished grandchildren, Donald Butler and his wife Jeannene, Daniel Butler and his wife Corinne, Deirdre Rosen and her husband Darren, Andrew Butler and his wife Pooneh, Devon Sutton and her husband Michael, Katherine Yearwood Young and her husband William Young, Anne Yearwood and her husband Oscar Lorenzzi-Vitor, Steven Yearwood, John Butler Sibley and his wife Lara, Maeve Nesci and her husband Patrick, Myles Sibley and his wife Jamie; fifteen great grandchildren whom she adored, Benjamin and Paige Butler, William and Julianna Rosen, Madeline and Alexis Butler, Sybil and Cora Sutton, Xavier, Merritt, and Cruz Butler, Aja and Meera Patel, Mary Sloane Nesci, Zoe Sibley; one nephew, Gilbert Johnson, and two loving caregivers, Marisol Gomez and Elena Gonzalez. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Anne Monahan Berkery, her son Donald Edward Butler, her daughter Mary Butler Sibley, her sister Rita Johnson, her brother John Patrick Berkery (deceased as an infant), and many dear friends whom she loved and kept close to her heart.
Born and raised at 147th Street in Manhattan, Mary later moved to the Inwood section of Manhattan where she raised her own Family, Mary moved to Fairfield after her retirement. After 20 years with CitiBank, she retired as an AVP. Mary was a talented photographer and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 7th, from 9:30-11 AM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30 AM in Holy Family Church 700 Old Stratfield Road, Fairfield. A private interment will immediately follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
