Gerald Paul Mannion Sr., 88, of Torrington passed away peacefully the early morning of March 23rd, 2018. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years and love of his life Yvonne St. Pierre Mannion, parents John Lawrence Mannion Sr. and Elizabeth Fortuna Mannion, sister Beatrice Mannion Cowell, brother John Lawrence Mannion Jr., son-in-law Gary Duguay Sr. and grandson Raymond Huertas. Jerry was born in New Hampshire and moved when a teen with his family to Fairfield, CT. After a tour of duty with the Marines during World War II Jerry returned to Fairfield where he eventually met and married Yvonne and both raised their blended family of 6 children. Jerry earned his living as a master carpenter and builder. He was always available to lend his time, and knowledge and tools of his trade to others. Later in life Jerry and Yvonne moved to New Hampshire where they enjoyed new opportunities. Starting a family business, Sons & Brothers Construction, and using the acreage they lived on to raise a pig or two, grow vegetables and operate a small Pick-Your-Own Strawberries hobby-business to mention a few. Their home in NH was a vacation destination for all of their family which they welcomed with open arms. Jerry and Yvonne returned to CT and made their final home in Torrington to be closer to their family. Jerry's life was one well lived. He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Sandra Duguay and grandson Gary Duguay Jr. of Fairfield, CT, Gerald Mannion Jr. and wife Mary Jane of Claremont, NH, Myra McSperrin and grandson Patrick McSperrin of Oxford, CT, Chuck Dunham and wife Nancy, grandchildren Chad Dunham and life partner Lindsey, Sarah Dunham Chamberlin and husband Nick, and Kelsey Dunham, of the Seattle, WA area, Raymond Mannion and wife Lucero and grandson Richard Mannion of Pueblo, Mexico, grandson Lee Mannion of CA, Charlene Mannion and grandchildren Candace Mannion, Luis Figueroa, and Juan Huertas of Buffalo, NY, and long time friend Pat McSperrin of Beacon Falls, CT. Jerry leaves 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Jerry's final resting place will be next to his wife at Lawncroft Cemetery in Fairfield, CT at the time and convenience of his family.
