Obituary of Mary Ann Sullivan
Mary Ann Roach Sullivan, age 81, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Charlie Sullivan, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Born in Bridgeport to the late Stephen and Mary Casey Roach, Mary Ann had been a lifelong resident of Black Rock. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Mary's High School and St. Vincent's School of Nursing, Class of 1956. She had worked as a labor and delivery nurse and also worked in the psychiatric department at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Mary Ann loved music and took great pleasure in being a member of the St. Ann's Church Choir. She was an avid reader and was a past member of the Gaelic American Club, Black Rock Yacht Club, and Fayerweather Yacht Club.
Mary Ann will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Brigid Sullivan; three brothers, Stephen Roach, Dr. James Roach, and his wife, Joan, of Black Rock, and Thomas Roach, of Black Rock; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her loving husband Charlie, Mary Ann was predeceased by a brother, David Roach; a sister, Eileen Roach; a sister-in-law, Agnes Roach; and two nephews, Matthew Roach and Edward Roach.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport, CT 06605. Interment will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield.
