Mr McGillicuddy was a sincere and honest man and the right man in the right spot at Prep for so many years. No matter what the position, his dedication, integrity, and sense of fair play were always paramount.
In my time at Prep, I had a fair amount of interaction with him,
most of it in a positive construct. On the few occasions where I was referred to him for disciplinary reasons, he was very fair and direct, and addressed any disciplinary matters as independent incidents, followed by a resumption of my normal relationship with him. I believe that was SOP with him.
A decent man, who loved his family, his many friends, and Prep, and whose influence lives on through the words and actions of the hundreds of former students
that he mentored.
My deepest condolences to his large family, to his many friends, and to the Prep community.
Rest In Peace Mr McGillicuddy.

To the family,
Please accept my condolences. It was a privilege and a blessing to be his student and friend.
Mr. McGill as we called him in the early sixties was a wonderful example to so many. He taught with a smile,a twinkle in his eye, enthusiasm and an occasional wisecrack. He could wing an eraser at miscreants in the back row with Sandy Koufax accuracy and pace. We learned much more than geometry from him.
May God continue to bless your family.

In my mind and heart Tim has been and will always be among the legendary figures of Fairfield Prep. When I first arrived at Prep 32 years ago it was Tim who taught me the ropes and went out of his way to make sure that I felt at home in the Prep community . . . and he did not do this only for me but for all of us "kids" as he affectionately referred to the young, new faculty members. I feel honored to be teaching one of his grandsons this year . . . a fine young man whom I am sure made his grandfather proud. May you rest in peace, Tim.

It's such a small thing, but it's stayed with me all these years. It must have been in 1971, because I had just graduated 8th grade from St. Augustine's in Bridgeport and was being interviewed as a potential freshman at Prep. A whole series of my brothers (John, Bobby, Timmy and Chris) had gone there, as had my uncle Rob, and like a 13 year old I was just going with the flow, assuming Prep was simply the next step in my life.
Which was pretty much the way the interview went -- he knew Chris (who had just been head of the student council as a senior the year before), and Timmy (who had been senior class president the year before that). So Mr. McGillicuddy asked the questions you might expect -- you're going to study, work hard, keep up your grades, don't want to disappoint your parents. I gave the answers I was expected to give, too.
But then he looked me in the eye, and asked: "But of course, you'll always do what you think is right, won't you?"
I said yes. But I think it was the first time any grown up had ever treated me as morally a grown up, myself; and I've never forgotten it.
RIP.

Stephen and family, very sorry to hear about your loss. Your Dad was a great guy who helped guide us during our uncertain high school years. The main thing I remember about him was his great big smile and a friendly greeting whenever we'd see him in the corridors at the Prep. I trust the Lord will provide comfort to you and the family during this season, and bring back many precious memories in the years to come.

We are heartbroken over your loss. Tim was a great man whose service to The Prep was truly extraordinary. As a husband and father he was a wonderful role model for all of us. His love for Joan and his children and grandchildren is an inspiration for all of us who were fortunate to be his friend. His dedication and commitment to the Prep family was remarkable. He will be missed and never forgotten. I will always remember that it was Tim who called and asked me to join the Prep Faculty. Be confident that his influence on all of us will remain forever. May he rest in peace. May the Good Lord comfort you.
