Obituary of Margaret E. Csanadi
Margaret Elizabeth Baksay Csanadi, beloved wife of the late Anthony F. Csanadi, died Saturday December 9, 2017 at her home at Benchmark Split Rock in Shelton.
She was born in Bridgeport on March 2, 1915 and was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Sytus Baksay. She and Anthony (Tommy) married in 1937 and made their home in Easton for many years and later moved to Aspetuck Village in Shelton where he died in 1985. In addition to being and accomplished dressmaker and tailor, Margaret loved to cook, bake, and garden. Her meals for family, friends, holidays, and occasions large and small and her adherence to Hungarian traditions and the many special dishes and desserts were cherished by all. She refinished furniture and collected and restored dolls and loved to knit. Margaret still found the time and energy to give generously of her many talents to senior centers and other volunteer organizations.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, Margaret’s memory will be lovingly be remembered by her sons, Robert Csanadi of Vermont, Timothy Csanadi, and his wife, Joy, of Rhode Island, Gary Csanadi, of Newtown, T. Allen Csanadi, of Texas, and Randolph Csanadi, of Texas; a sister, Irene Baksay, of Shelton; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to Tommy and her parents, Margaret was predeceased by Robert’s wife, Carolyn and Gary’s wife, Georgina; and three siblings, Louis Baksay, John Baksay, and Elizabeth Baksay Haydu.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton, CT 06612. Friends may also greet the family at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will follow in Aspetuck Cemetery, Easton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff, nurses, and the RCAs at the Benchmark Split Rock for their outstanding care.
