Obituary of Daniel Peter Walsh
Daniel P. Walsh, age 71, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully in his home while surrounded by his loving family on December 9, 2017.
In addition to his devoted wife of 28 years, Ann, he will be remembered by his six children: Cara (Alex B.), Lauren (Alex T.) , James (fiance Courtney), Danielle (Nick), Marysa (boyfriend Reilly) and son Andrew. He was adored as "Papa" by his 5 grandchildren Isabel, Lea, Ryan, Delia and Madelyn. Dan is also survived by his 109 year old mother Mary; three sisters, Anne (Al), Kay (Bob) and Mary (Roger); father- in-law Henry; mother- in-law Marie; sister- in-law Lisa; brother- in- law Mike; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Daniel and his sister Joan.
Born and raised in Howard Beach, Queens, New York, Dan was the CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, NY before becoming CEO of Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, NY. He retired from Winthrop in 2009.
He enjoyed playing tennis and golf and had a passion for music. He embraced his faith and was on a constant quest to learn more about the religion and the God he so dearly loved.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center. His Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday 1030 AM in Saint Pius X Church, with interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Trumbull.
