Albert " Poncho " Nassra, age 85, of Bridgeport, husband of Edma Abraham Nassra, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017. Born in Cuba, December 15, 1931, Mr. Nassra came to the Bridgeport in 1948. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army. He went on to live in Florida for several years and moved back to Bridgeport where he has lived for nearly forty years. Over the years he had worked for the American Banana Company and for a time owned the Plymouth Market in Bridgeport before working for the Bridgeport School System until his retirement. Poncho was an avid New York Mets fan, he enjoyed dancing, stamp and coin collecting, puzzles, watching television and most of all loved the times that he spent with family and friends. In addition to Edma, his loving wife of 55 years, he leaves behind his daughter, Christine Vicente and her husband Alfonso, his grandson David Vicente, all of Trumbull a brother, Alex Nassra and his wife Helen of Danbury as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Dulce Showah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday directly at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Church, 5458 Park Ave., Bridgeport with burial to follow in Mt. Grove of Easton Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 am until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Church.
