Obituary of Bertha Agnes Kallay
Bertha Agnes Gall Kallay, age 93, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late John Kallay, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center ICU with her loving family by her side. Born in Southport on October 28, 1923 to the late John and Julianna Molnar Gall, Bertha attended Pequot School and later worked as an assembler at Bridgeport Metal Goods Mfg. Co. until her retirement. Bertha took great pleasure in making Hungarian foods and made the best stuffed cabbage. Everyone, especially her grandchildren, loved her Hungarian pastries that she baked every Christmas. Bertha also enjoyed coloring or painting pictures that she did often with her sister, Helen, and doing word finds. Her passion was her 10 year old cat, Sammie, who will greatly miss her. Bertha’s memory will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Nancy Koster and her husband Hector of Milford; grandchildren, Brian Koster of New Haven and Diana (Koster) D’Addio and her husband John-Michael of Shelton; great-grandchildren Olivia and Ethan D’Addio of Shelton; her sister Helen Margaret Gall of Trumbull; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Bertha was predeceased by eight siblings, Tessie Cizmar, Julia Hoyt, Elizabeth Gall, Mary Poschman, Margaret Gall, George Gall, Steve Gall, and John Gall; and her dear friend, Slavko Krause. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Ann Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport. Interment will follow at Mountain Grove Cemetery. Bertha’s family would like to thank the EMTs, the doctors and nurses in the ER and ICU at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, and Bertha’s live-in aide, Jasmine Umpire, for their vital attempts to save her life.
