Dr. Jeuse Bernard Saint-Fleur, daughter of Ms. Jeuse Prosper and Bernard Saint-Fleur, was born on August 25th 1978 in Port au Prince, Haiti. Dr. Saint-Fleur is predeceased by her father Bernard Saint-Fleur on August 10, 2020. She is survived by her mother Jeuse Prosper; her Siblings Caleb and Immacula Saint-Fleur, Josue Saint-Fleur and Jean Nicanor Saint Fleur. Her two nephews Joshua Eli Saint-Fleur and John-Caleb Saint-Fleur and her two nieces Sarah Saint-Fleur and Sophia Saint-Fleur. Jeuse’s education first began at the Louis Joseph Janvier school in Carrefour, Haiti before she and her family migrated from Haiti to Bridgeport, CT USA in 1987. In Bridgeport, she attended and graduated from Blackham elementary and middle school until 1992. She then graduated from Harding High school in 1996. Her higher educational studies first began at Southern Connecticut State University in the fall of 1996 in New Haven, CT. In the spring of 1997, she became a member of the Psi Omicron Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated before transferring to Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT. where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree in 2002. After earning her BSN degree Jeuse started her nursing career at Yale New Haven Hospital as a registered nurse and was inspired to advance in her field by becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner. She received the Florence nightingale Nurse Award from Yale New Haven Hospital in 2004 and the Professional Nurse Award from the Black Nurses Association in 2005. While working as a registered nurse, Jeuse was a student at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. where she earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner track in 2006. She then went on to work full time as a Family Nurse Practitioner on the Trauma Service at Yale New Haven Hospital as the first African American Practitioner on that service. She also became an adjunct professor at Gateway Community College and Southern Connecticut State University from 2009 to 2014. While working as Nurse Practitioner and an adjunct professor, Jeuse inspired to earn the highest degree in her profession. In 2012 Jeuse enrolled in the Doctoral program at Sacred Heart University in the Doctor of Nurse Practice program. In May of 2015 she became a Doctor of Nursing Practice: Clinical Tract, where her dissertation topic was on: Examining the Relationship between Weight loss and Depression in Obese Post Bariatric Surgery Patients. Since 2013, Jeuse worked as a Doctor of Nurse Practitioner and as Primary Care Provider at the Cornell Scott Hill Corporation in New Haven, CT. She was an active member of the Pi Lambda Zeta Chapter in New Haven, CT where she loved working with her chapter sorority sisters to obtain great program success and where she was previously the Tri-State Health Coordinator of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. In 2019, she was recognized by the members of the Delta Iota Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated for all of her community service efforts she has done with her sorority in the tri-state area. She was also a foster mother and found it rewarding to help children at a disadvantage any way that she can. After five years of complication with an interstitial lung disease, five years of connective tissue disease and one week of respiratory failure, Dr. Jeuse Bernard Saint-Fleur passed away at Yale New Haven Hospital on January 30, 2021. Dr. Jeuse Bernard Saint-Fleur will always be remembered as a straightforward and focused woman of God that enjoyed being around the company of mother. She was an admirable, strong-willed, focus, loving daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, sorority sister and friend to all those that knew her. Calling Hours will be held on Friday, February 19th, from 5 to 8 PM in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center, with a prayer service to be place at 4 PM. On Saturday, February 20th, at 10 AM in the funeral home, a Faith service celebrating Jeuse's life will be held. Her interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery.
