Obituary of Vittorio Venier

Vittorio I. Venier of Derby, CT passed away on December 24, 2020 at St Vincent' s Medical Center in Bridgeport, CT at age 79 from complications of a stroke suffered in October.
Vittorio (Vic) was born in Italy on April 7, 1941. He spent his youth in Italy, Croatia, and Sardinia before emigrating with his family to Connecticut as a teen. Always a hard worker, Vic entered the workforce immediately and remained employed until joining the US Army which he served proudly and honorably.
Vic worked at US Motors, BF Goodrich, and Nancy Lynn Bakeries after his military service, but it was at Bigelow Tea where he found a home. He worked at and retired from Bigelow after over 30 years, and was a key factor in the success and growth of the company.
Always blessed with incredible hand/eye coordination, Vic was an accomplished semi-pro soccer goalkeeper for many years before becoming a soccer referee. Vic was also an excellent bowler, collecting many accolades and trophies over the years.
Retirement came and Vic was ready. In addition to spending time fishing and rooting for the Mets and Jets, he walked several miles a day and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren to whom he was truly an angel. Trips to the casino and online games also provided recreation. Vittorio will be missed by his sisters, Ann and Marija Venier. Daughters, Amy Venier, Lisa Noonan, Michelle Sparks; and son, Victor Venier, and wife, Maria Luiza; grandchildren, Nicole and Bobby Noonan, Luke Venier, Joshua, Ryan, and Brigitte Sparks; and great- grandchildren, Renly and Riley Schockley; former wife, Ann Venier; niece, Loly Hlade, and son, Nicholas; nephew, Drago Perini (Linda) will also cherish his memory.
Vittorio was predeceased by his parents, Vido and Anna Venier; and sisters, Branka Hlade and Giovanna Perini.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
