It's been heartwarming to read here of the qualities Pam had that live on in her daughters. I met Pam and Joy Shaw in the Mill River Wetland Committee's early days, writing about the organization in my jobs as a reporter for The Town Crier and Bridgeport Post. Pam and I seemed to bump into each other everywhere: town meetings, town hall, concerts, the movies. It always was a pleasure to see her. I admired her fierce dedication to the environment. She was truly a special person.

During my early days as an environmentalist (1970s) on the Mill River in Fairfield, Connecticut, Pam was my right arm and more. Whether training or serving as a guide in the River-Lab Program, or rowing a duck-boat load of Mill River Rangers downstream, or assisting the Mill River Wetland Committee (MRWC) in its efforts regarding environmental legislation or local environmental management, she enthusiastically and capably supported my endeavors in environmental education and protection. On through the 80’s and 90’s she continued to participate in every possible way, serving for several years as President of MRWC, for which body her strong background of connection with the League of Women Voters was an invaluable asset.
I always felt that Pam was the best kind of buddy anyone could wish for. I am ever humbly grateful for her enabling friendship in the earnest pursuit of objectives in our shared environmental commitment.

I met Pam through her amazing three daughters. They say the apple does not fall far from the tree and that certainly pertains to all her children. An outstanding legacy. Condolences to her family.

My sincere condolences to the family. I did not know your mother, but Patti but I work with Patti at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. When I read about Pamela's life, I see a lot of her in Patti. Before I elaborate on that, I want to mention that I am inspired by reading about your mother's life. I see her in Patti. There is nothing more a person can do in life than pass on their character to their children. The team I work with benefit greatly from Patti's activism to solve problems, independence, yet at the same time a strong team player, and willingness to speak up. A willingness to invest time and energy into good causes.
My condolences to the family. I can imagine that you are very proud of your mother's life.

The Meiman family sends heartfelt condolences to the Ritter family at this sad time. Pam was a dedicated advocate for nature alongside my father Phil Meiman, and in recent years, she was a good companion for my mom at Bridgeport Symphony concerts-she will be missed!

Special prayers for the family of Pam Ritter. I always admired her dedication to speaking her mind. She was the real deal in our town of Fairfield. Pam would appear about the town. Pam Ritter made Fairfield a better place to live because she cared. May she be at peace.
