Obituary of Michael G. Petreycik

Michael G. Petreycik, age 91, of the Black Rock section of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Irene Menhart Petreycik, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020.
Born in Bridgeport on February 23, 1929, Mr. Petreycik was a lifelong city resident. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He later went on to have a 39-year career as a technical illustrator for the Avco/Textron Lycoming Company.
He belonged to the Catholic War Veterans and the Bridgeport Historical Society, and in his youth belonged to a group of young artists called the Kremos. Mike was very well known for his artistic creativity. He was a sculptor, avid reader, classical music afficionado, painter, inventor, held many patents, and could fix anything around the house.
He is survived by his children, Richard Petreycik and his wife Pattilee of Black Rock, Kathryn Scott and her husband Charles of Ridgefield, Jane Petreycik of Black Rock, his cherished grandchildren, Caitlin, Kyle and Adam Petreycik, his step grandson, George Augustyniak, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to the love of his life, Irene, he was predeceased by his son Donald Petreycik, brothers John and Joseph Petreycik, and sisters Frances Finney, Margaret Andriso, and Mae Sedgwick.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. directly at St. Ann Church, 481 Brewster Street, Bridgeport, with burial to follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no prior calling hours.
