Words cannot express how devastated my husband Eric and I are. Pete was such an amazing man and he will be greatly missed. My husband introduced us at Fayerweather and he and I got to be great friends over the years. He always greeted me with a smile and a kiss. He confided in me about things that only good friends tell one another, and I did the same. I will miss those times and I will miss my good friend. My heart breaks for his family, and for all those who love him.
Love you Pete Shanazu...I will see you again one day, but until then, have fun watching the Sox from your primo seats!!

Pete was a classy man who was compassionate towards others as well as a man of dignity. I was a student of his at Bassick and yes he called on me alot but thanks to him I can still remember my Spanish. I also belonged to St Dimitre church. Pete took the time to take my uncle out for a ride or out to lunch. He was a man of class.
My condolences to Pete's family and know he was admired by so many of us for his class and dignity.

My condolences to the entire Shanazu Family! Mr. Shanazu was my Spanish teacher for 3 years and my baseball coach for 4 (1975-1979) at Bassick and always challenged me to do and be my best. He always had a quick joke or pat on the back for us, whichever was needed that day. Mr. Shanazu was one of the many outstanding educators at Bassick that made it a special place back in those days. I will never forget his gentle, but firm encouragement and guidance, be it on the diamond or in the classroom. I am so grateful to have been his student!
