Obituary of James W. Murray
James "Fav" Murray, age 75, devoted husband of Mary Igoe Murray, of Fairfield, entered into eternal life on August 24, 2019.
In addition to Mary, his beloved wife of 52 years, Fav will be lovingly remembered by his two sons and their families, Michael Murray and his wife Michelle, grandchildren Katelyn, Lauren, Christopher, all of Fairfield, Jimmy Murray and his wife Melissa, his step child Samantha and her son Frankie, all of Mt. Vernon, NY.
Born in NYC, he lived in the Bronx for 55 years before moving to Fairfield to be closer to his grandchildren. A city bus operator in the Bronx for MABSTOA, he retired after 37 years with a perfect safety record. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years in the Bronx and Holy Family Council in Fairfield. Fav was an avid Lionel Train collector and a fan of “The Duke” John Wayne.
His greatest passion in life was his family. He met Mary, the love of his life 60 years. They enjoyed every minute they spent together, taking long car rides to nowhere together, raising their family, and becoming grandparents. He loved being ‘Papa Fav’ to his grandchildren and playing Santa every Christmas for them.
