Obituary of Anna Marie Rita Altieri
Anna Marie Altieri, 94, joined God and the angels and Saints December 21, 2021 surrounded by her
loving family.
Daughter of the Late Elizabeth and John Creevy, Anna Marie was born in Bridgeport on
July 17, 1927. She attended St. John Nepomucehe Commercial School and Harding High School. She was
one of five children, grew up in Bridgeport, CT where she met her late husband Carmine Altieri of 62
years, and they raised their family in Fairfield, CT where she resided until she passed away. Anna Marie
worked as a Paraprofessional in the Fairfield School System working with special needs children for
more than 25 years. She loved the children and had many memorable stories to tell. She was a devout
catholic and member of Holy Family Parish for 65 years. She never missed a Mass and watched it daily
for the five years while she was homebound. Anna Marie was an active member of the Rosary Guild and
sang in the choir where she was a cantor and sang for weddings and funerals. Singing was her greatest
passion! She had a beautiful coloratura soprano voice and studied opera under Professor Pompono from
Italy for 25 years, where she accomplished mastering many Italian arias. Her favorite aria was the
popular "0 Mio Bambino Caro" by Puccini. She also sang with the Fairfield Community chorus. She
enjoyed doing handwork (embroidery, cross stitching, and candle wicking); loved traveling especially to
Hawaii and our lake home. She enjoyed going to tag sales to pick-up treasured items for her
grandchildren to play with them when visiting.
Anna Marie is predeceased by her husband Carmine and sisters Dorothy, Ruth & Jacqueline. Survived by her son Raymond Altieri (Lynn) of Monroe, her daughter Joan Pace (Paul) of Southington, and Robert Altieri of Fairfield. Three grandchildren Dr. Paul Joseph Pace
of St. Louis, Elizabeth Pagano of Suffield, and Lauren Pontakis of Monroe. Two great grandchildren Dominic Virgulto and Ava Rose Pagano. Her brother John Creevy and his wife Arlene of Florida, and many nieces and nephews and dear friends Diane, the Bakers and Hazel.
Her family will receive family and friends on Tuesday (December 28th) from 4pm-7pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home 1209 Post Road in Fairfield Center. Her Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Pius the X Church, Fairfield on Wednesday at 11 AM, followed by interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
