Obituary of Carol Maraczi

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Ann Piwowarski Maraczi, age 75, of Milford, beloved wife of Robert Maraczi, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Carol was born in New Haven on September 14, 1946, daughter of the late Chet and Ann Matocha Piwowarski and had been a Stratford, Shelton and Milford resident for most of her life. She graduated from Shelton High School in 1964, and from the Grace Downes airline school. She went on to work for Peoples Bank where she met her husband Bob, and also worked with Festivities Catering. She was a former board member of Goodwill Industries, Western Fairfield County Region.

Carol enjoyed her career as a Co-Founder of the Stratford Athletic Club which she and her husband Bob owned and operated for nearly thirty years. She was a longtime Communicant at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church where she was a Religious Education teacher in her younger days and also volunteered at Spooner House, Swim Across the Sound, and Bunnell High School Cavalcade of Bands. Carol enjoyed world travel and especially loved the times that she spent with her family at their home in Sint Maarten. She was an avid New York Giants fan (thrilled that she attended Super Bowl XXV) and more recently a fan of Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.

She loved her Fourth of July beach parties with her family and her Milford neighbors and friends as well as her famous annual Christmas Party that she meticulously planned the menu for, months in advance. She was a devoted Nana who loved going to her granddaughter’s dance recitals and her grandson’s basketball and football games. Carol also loved her annual trip with her granddaughter to Radio City Music Hall to see the Rockettes.

In addition to Bob, her loving husband of 52 years, Carol leaves behind her daughters, Suzanne, Carla and Victoria and her precious grandchildren Lauren and Logan, and her grand dogs Finnegan, Dexter, Marcus and Margaret.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 3, from 1-4 pm in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Rd., Fairfield Center with a Celebration of Life Prayer Service at 3:30 pm conducted by Deacon Jeff Kingsley. Please help honor Carol's life by wearing her favorite color blue or a decorative scarf to her services.
