James W. Kerigan, Sr., age 86, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Jane Kirkwood Kerigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, with his loving family by his side.
Born and raised in New London, son of the late William and Gertrude Minnix Kerigan, James had lived in Bridgeport for some time before moving to Fairfield over fifty years ago. He had served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He later went on to work for the Liggett Group until his retirement. Mr. Kerigan was a member of the American Legion Post 74 of Fairfield and the Gaelic American Club. Jim enjoyed bowling and golf and especially spending his winters at their home in Homosassa, Florida. More than anything, he loved the times that he spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to Jane, his loving wife of 56 years, survivors include his children, James W. Kerigan, Jr, of Easton, Matthew Kerigan, and his wife, Elizabeth, of New Haven and Kathryn Ferri, and her husband, John, of North Attleboro, MA. He leaves behind his precious grandchildren, Shawna and Jacklyn Kerigan, Matthew Kerigan, Jr. and Victoria Kerigan and Courtney Ferri; as well as a great grandson, Jeramiah Daley; a brother, Joseph Kerigan, and his wife, Paula, of Marshfield, MA; and a sister, Claire Melish, and her husband, Leonard, of Trumbull; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, William F. Kerigan, Jr. and John J. Kerigan; and a sister, G. Joyce Mulligan.
Services were held privately in the care of the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home.
