Santino Galbo, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021. He recently celebrated his 90th birthday with his loved ones and family and will be dearly missed by all of those around him.

Santino (Santo) was born in The Bronx, NY on January 25, 1931 to Loreto and Vincenza Galbo. His family relocated to Palermo, Italy in 1935. At the age of 17, he made his way back to the US where he started his own Ice and Coal distribution business with his brother, Salvatore. When he was 21 years old, he returned to Sicily where he met the love of his life, Giovanna.

Giovanna and Santo spent several years in Palermo developing their loving relationship that we know today. From that moment on the two were inseparable. They married in 1953 and began their future together in New York where they raised their two boys, Loreto and Vincent. Santo lived the American dream starting in NYC's garment district. He was self-taught, and his determination and ambition helped him build a successful career.

Santo's ability to build lasting relationships with those around him was his greatest skill. No matter the time of day, he always had time for a conversation, and was genuinely interested in what others had to say. He loved sharing his own great stories and funny jokes as well. He spent his entire forty-year career in the fashion industry. Santo's strong work ethic has been passed on to his kids and now on to his five grandchildren.

After a successful career, he moved to Norwalk, CT where he spent his remaining years enjoying life to the fullest. Some of his favorite hobbies were travelling with his wife and attending Broadway shows. Giovanna and Santo loved to try new restaurants on the weekend, and hosted the weekly Friday 'card night' with their friends.

Santo was bigger than life. No matter the occasion, he was the life of the party especially with his memorable dance moves. His laugh was infectious, always putting a smile on the faces of others. He was one of those people that you couldn't help but love. Santo's proudest achievement was his family.

When he was surrounded by his family, he was his happiest self. As a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he found time to attend every birthday, graduation, and other important events. One of Santo's favorite songs was Frank Sinatra's "My Way". He certainly lived his life 'his way', full of love, laughter, and joy surrounded by his family and friends. He was truly the best.

Santino is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years, Giovanna of Norwalk, CT, two sons, Loreto (Larry) and wife Donna of Southport, CT, and Vincenzo (Vincent) and wife Diane of Park Ridge, NJ; five grandchildren, Anthony and wife, Molly, of Fairfield, CT, Michael and wife, Samantha, of Fairfield, CT, Kristina and husband, Thomas, of Fairfield, CT, Vincent and wife, Jordan, of Manhattan, NY, and Nicholas of Manhattan, NY; five great-grandchildren, Amelia, Martino, Aria, Joseph, and Mia, sister-in law Nuccia Mangiafridda; and leaves behind many adoring nieces and nephews. Santino was predeceased by his brothers, Salvatore and Michael; and sister, Nina.
